For those of you moving into dorms and new apartments, you may want a cute way to display your school treasures! I remember taking great pride in my bulletin board from high school. It boasted of homecoming ribbons, stickers, photos of close friends and many a ticket stub. Why not do a “grown up” version of that for your dorm room!? Lauren Conrad shows us how!
To recap, here’s what you will need:
- wine corks
- glue gun
- thumb tacks
Let me know if you’re going to give today’s craft a try in the comments below.
We LOVE a good camp fire and what’s better than a camp fire? S’MORES, of course! One of my favorite memories is gathering around the camp fire (or microwave on rainy days) and creating this miraculous and delicious confectionery creation. I don’t know many people that haven’t had s’mores but if you haven’t, you need to get ta cookin! They will change your life — seriously!
Any time I LOVE something, I get excited when I see new variations of it. For example, I could not be more obsessed with Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice. It is one of my FAVORITE stories in the world so whenever I see a new version, I just have to partake in the splendor! So when I saw this recipe on Pinterest, I just had to try it and it is To. DYE. FOR! Seriously, if you bake this weekend, BAKE THESE! After rereading this I see now that the original analogy didn’t really make sense but I’m sure you get the point, right? Yeah.
It’s National S’more Day! If you are like us, this is hands down the best random national holiday. Forget National Cupcake Day and National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day…to us, there’s nothing quite like the melted goodness of gooey chocolate and fluffy marshmallows sandwiched between two crunchy graham crackers. Mmm! Is your mouth watering yet?
To properly observe this holiday we decided to whip up some s’mores. Not just any s’mores… Seriously Amazing S’mores Bars. Just as all of our favorite baking adventures start, we poked around on Pinterest and found a few recipes that we transformed into our very own. Check out the recipe below. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 king size milk chocolate bars
- 1 1/2 – 2 cups marshmallow fluff
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, mix together flour, graham cracker crumbs, salt, and baking powder.
- Pour butter mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
- Split dough in half and press half of it firmly into the bottom of an squaregreased, glass baking pan (we used an 8×8 inch pan) so it forms an even layer on the bottom of the pan. (Tip: Use the bottom of a measuring cup to press the layer flat and even.)
- Layer on the two king size chocolate bars.
- Evenly spread marshmallow fluff over the top of the chocolate bars, cover the entire surface—all the way to the sides.
- Roll out other half of dough and then place on top of the marshmallow. You’ll want it to be one single, smooth layer.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let the bars cool all the way before cutting. We know it’s nearly impossible to resist the urge of tasting them ASAP, but trust us…if you let them cool, they will be MUCH easier to cut up.
Make these and let us know how they turn out!
I LOVE this manicure! I once did something similar while painting my house. I used a matte finish and a glossy paint finish to do stripes. It worked! Why not apply the same to your nails? One of the reasons I like it so much is because it’s subtle.. not over the top like so many manicures these days, are! SO cute! check it out –

It seems pastels and pops of color are the norm around here, but today we’re changing it up! Sometimes you just want a super chic black mani. I happen to love black more than any other color so this one’s for my girls who like to live on the dark side. Here we go:
- Paint your entire nail with black polish. We used THIS ONE as it was the richest + darkest of all the ones we tried.
- Next paint a matte topcoat over all of the nails. We had the best luck with THIS ONE. It went on super smooth and dried very matte, very quickly.
- Next, just for fun we did an accent nail with stripes. Cute 1/4″ strips of tape and lay them across the nail.
- Use your original shiny black polish to coat over the strips of tape. Let that dry while you do the next step.
- Make a little puddle of the shiny black polish and use your dotting tool to make different sized dots on the other nails. They’ll kind of end up looking like rain drops.
- When you’re finished with your dots, peel back the tape strips on your accent nail to reveal the matte stripes. Then clean up the edges.

We just HAD to share this! It was too true and funny not to!
Remember, girlies.. the guy should pursue YOU! Not the other way around! And… if the guy is interested in you and is too afraid to tell you, then you don’t want to be with him anyway! Maybe a little old fashioned but it IS the Truth! Men, MAN UP! 🙂 xoxoxo
You know we love Wendy’s Look Book around here. One of her latest videos is a great one! Teaching us to think differently about dresses and dressing in genearl. Do you have a “go-to” dress that you want to wear even more than you already do but fear that people will think, “she’s wearing THAT dress again”? Well, just style it differently! Here, Wendy will show you a few ways to do just that!
Happy Friday! Have a great weekend and be sure to be POLISHED!
We like getting the most bang for our buck and why shouldn’t we? When it comes to buying clothes, most people think about how many different ways they can wear an outfit or a particular item of clothing. Sometimes,we feel limited when it comes to styling but all you need are a few good accessories and Polish! 🙂 Read on to see how we take one dress and make three looks from it. The possibilities are endless! Just use your imagination.
Sometimes, it helps to have a “theme”, though, you would never want to look like you were going to a costume party so keep that in mind while getting dressed.
Our first look was clearly inspired by the dress. How can you not associate Southern Belle with a lace eyelit dress? It’s just impossible! We added a gigantic floppy hat, a pretty belt and heels. Every grandmaw this side of the Mississippi will be trying to set you up with their grandson! It’s sure to be a winner!
Our second look is a la new girl! It reminds me of the indie darlings that frequent anthropologie, drink hot tea and have record players. The girl that would wear this is everyone’s friend and refuses to take herself too seriously. We love her!
Of course the third look is for those country gal’s that love going to blue grass concerts! They often drink from red Solo cups and live on dirt roads. They aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and always clean up real nice!
Of course, The great thing about all of these outfits is that you can wear any of them regardless if you fit into that mold or not! It’s fun playing “dress up” isn’t it!?
This dress is available in our store only. If you love it, then call to order it! 251.479.4144
If you are like most girls and LOVE watching The Bachelorette, then you will LOVE this post. It’s all about Emily Maynard’s style. We think she is always Polished and we just can’t get enough of her creative ensembles. She always knows how to add the perfect finishing touches! If you like Emily’s style then you’ll LOVE Polish! Keep reading to check out comparisons and then go shop!
First, we have Emily’s girl-next-door look.. perfectly tomboy and perfectly girlie! She’s wearing a striped green blouse with cut-offs! How perfect! We have a similar blouse that you could dress down with cut offs or dress up with a more tailored pair of shorts or tuck it into a cute pencil! Very versatile!
We love Emily’s dress in this next picture. The color combination is spot on! This dress is perfect for warm summer nights! Don’t worry, you can get a similar one from Polish! It’s shorter and a little more playful, but the colors are similar.
Next up are the lacy shorts Emily wore while in Europe. She looks radiant in the monochromatic ensemble with the ivory lace shorts. Lace shorts are hot right now so of course we have plenty colors to offer but our favorite pair are these black laced shorts with the nude lining. Very suggestive but still sweet!
And this list wouldn’t be complete without one of Emily’s iconic sparkly gowns! No, Polish doesn’t sell gowns but we have several dresses that would be the next best thing. We love how flattering the shimmery champagne gown is on Emily’s skin tone. IT would be flattering on most skin tones which is perfect because we have our own version! This dress will sparkle as it sways back and forth whenever you wear it.
Now you don’t have to wait until you can get chosen to be the Bachelorette! You can be Polished just by shopping at Polished! Besides, who really wants dozens of men going crazy over you? 🙂 Well, I guess if this guy is one of them.. then I DO!
Some of these clothes are available on our online store, here and other are available in our Boutique! Stop by either location! 🙂
BEST PROPOSAL EVER. I’m certain this can NOT be topped!
Have a great weekend!
Do you do your hair a lot? I find myself throwin’ it up in the ugliest of buns just to get it off of my neck! It’s hot out there… sometimes long braids are still too hot so I got excited when I saw this cool do (From The Beauty Department, of course). Of course, it may be difficult to do on your own but try it and see how it comes out! I’m gonna try and get my husband to do it for me. I’ll let you know how that goes…
